Vicky & Mehta

Main objective before begin the project was to learn facial expressions and turnaround. For this I choose 'sci-fi' genre as topic, then I got idea to design historical characters in sci-fi era or mixing historical & sci-fi era. But I had to make something new.

First I thought to make mythological character in sci-fi but it already exists, you can find that in comic '18 Days by Grant Morrison' of Graphic India publication. Then I started searching for something in Panchatantra books, a story which is already there but I had to convert that into sci-fi. I think Panchatantra books are the one where you can find traditional stories. There were many but still i didn't satisfied. Then I remembered YouTube video of Shwetabh Gangwar in which he was discussing about anime with InSaiyanTV, in that video he mentioned the name 'Vikram and Betaal'. This story, I mean these characters are extremely unique in India, nobody talk much about this too much. So then I decided to make these characters in sci-fi era.

Actually 'Vicky & Mehta' name is not good, I know. They were randomly chosen at the end of artwork, as I had to complete this little project before end of this 2020.

'Vicky' or 'sci-fi Vikram' has same characteristics, like he is king, has huge wealth, wise etc. Basic design is inspired from 'Yasou' from leagues of legends. He is cyborg but it's also a historical character that's why metal or robotic parts will look like rusted iron, so best refrence will be 'Long John Silver' from Disney's Treasure Planet. I made his one arm robotic, only right arm so that he can exceed human limits of load carrying. Also his boots look like sci-fi but to make it look historic he has wooden straps on leg as armor.

Now come to Done character, 'Mehta' or 'sci-fi Betaal'. First I thought to make robot only having above waist part, which is victim of cyber-attack (virus). It has a soul which tests people's minds, exactly like Betaal. Instead of making broken robot it will be better to make drone which can atleast fly to catch people with it's robotic hands. This also made of rusted metal or material.
